The needle felting kit is included in the cost of the class. The kit contains everything you need to start felting. The kit includes the following:

·      3 felting needles,

·      needle holder

·      Finger protectors

·      Skewer

·      Foam felting surface

·      Project template

·      Project handout

·      Core Fiber (enough to complete project and more)

·      Topcoat Fiber (enough to complete project and more)

We will be working on a simple project, a tiny bird, that will be completed before the class is over. This is a hands-on class, and needles are sharp. Please keep this in mind when signing up for the class.

After a brief presentation we will dive right into felting simple 3D shapes, such as:  spheres, cones, cubes, and cylinders. We will follow the project template to make the shapes the size needed to make the bird pictured. We will go over how to hold the needle, correct needle felting techniques, how to felt the shapes together to make our cute little bird, how to use the template to make pieces approximately the same size, how to felt the wings, using topcoat for the color or colors you chose, where to felt the feet, and finally how to make and place the eyes on our feathered friend. Troubleshooting tips will be given as we work on the bird to help with any mistakes we make. There will be plenty 😊.
