Saad K’idilyé is a Diné language nest located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We provide immersive language and cultural childcare for participating families. Our mission is to help grow our Diné language speakers within our area to help sustain our culture and language. We teach linguistically and culturally relevant materials to our parents, infants, and children. Families at Saad K’idilyé are required to participate in various cultural workshops throughout the year and attend Diné language classes in order to practice in and around their family at home. What began as an idea in 2018 came to fruition on August 15, 2022, when we opened our doors to our first group of children and families. In our first year, we overcame the obstacles of running the world's first Diné language immersion nest and have continued to grow in numbers since. Along the way, we learned to adapt and build custom teachings for our children and have spent numerous hours tending to our children's needs. Through our learning experiences over the past two years, we continue to guide and immerse our children in their daily Diné culture and language activities, with their well-being at the forefront. As our children grew, so did we. With the same mission in mind, we expanded and adapted our teachings as our infants grew into toddlers. Entering our second year, we opened our second nest space to cater to the growth of our infants. This past year, we provided more workshops to families, continued to build new cultural programming, and continued to involve more of the local community in some of our events. Our language nest and our mission became more relevant to outsiders, and new relationships with the community flourished. On August 15, 2024, we entered our third year and have continued to be a native-led organization that provides language learning, cultural resources, and teachings to our SK families. This year comes with new challenges and some of the same challenges as years before, but we’re still growing, and we hope to one day support other communities in establishing their own language nests. With your donations and support, you can help us continue to carry on our language, culture, traditions, and teachings to current and future SK families. Ahéhee' (Thank you)
