The 2023 Government House Christmas ornament marks the inaugural ornament for Wes Moore, the 63rd Governor of Maryland and the first African American Governor in the history of Maryland. The center of the ornament features a photo of Governor Moore, First Lady Dawn Moore, their children Mia and James, and their dog, Tucker Balti Moore, taken in the Drawing Room of Government House. Surrounding the photo is a winter scene with a border of gold. Atop the ornament are pinecones and pine branches indicative of the winter season and the many varieties of pine that grow in the great state of Maryland. Government House is the historic and official home of Maryland governors. It was originally built in 1870 as a Victorian Mansion but was renovated into a Georgian-style country house. The Moore Family has made it a point to open the doors of their home, welcoming all Marylanders into "The People's House." In the first year of the Governor's administration, the Moore family hosted several receptions, religious celebrations, and various arts and culture events, and they look forward to continuing to bring new and exciting programming to the home. As we celebrate this holiday season, the Moores extend this ornament as a token of holiday cheer from their family to yours.
