'Remembrance' is an elegant, original poppy painting on canvas. It has a modern feel to it with a simple design although the deeper you look, the more intricate the detail becomes.
Firstly, a light impasto layer creates an element of soft texture to the canvas. A feature which sits quietly in the background yet adds the first signs of movement to the painting. Working in layers, a natural depth of colour begins to emerge with subtle reds and greens peaking through in the middle ground.
‘Remembrance’ is one of five from a Poppy Series of paintings. Each painting has a suggestion of a misty morn which is created by the ghostly layers of poppies hidden a few layers beneath the surface. These contrasts perfectly with the poppies in the foreground, which are are strong and vibrant.
